I am getting ready for the Charleston Fine Art Annual, the celebration of fine art in Charleston, South Carolina. The art event is organized annually by Stylee PR’s client – CFADA.
The Painting in the Park is always the highlight of the fine art weekend that starts on Friday, November 7 at 5pm with art openings at CFADA member galleries. This year’s plein air painting in Washington Park, Nov. 8, 9am-noon, will feature such renowned artists as West Fraser, John Carroll Doyle, Robert Lange, Lese Corrigan, Rhett Thurman, Shannon Smith, Jennifer Smith Rogers, and many more. These artists are donating their time and talent to create masterpieces that will be later on auctioned off at the Charleston Art Auction. Proceeds will benefit art programs at local public high schools. Join our celebration of fine art!

In times of financial crisis, many companies cut their PR and marketing budgets as well as their advertising budgets to save money. They look at their competitors and follow their example. For many, especially smaller businesses, this withdrawal from the media means that they will loose their visibility in their target markets and will not gain any new customers. Getting new customers in difficult times, when there is less money to be spent on products and services, is crucial to companies’ survival. Without integrated marketing and communication strategies, which essentially should be part of your word of mouth campaign, your company is practically invisible to a customer. When other companies are cutting back on their ad and PR budgets, your timing to position yourself as a leader in your industry is ideal as there is less competition. I suggest that companies allocate a budget for PR and marketing and find a PR professional to discuss their options. There are many PR professionals who can advice a small business on what is the right strategy to implement in this economy. My company Stylee PR and Marketing offers a free initial consultation to learn more about your business and find out if PR is the right marketing tool for you.

I just created a Tideline Magazine Community profile for Air Company – Charleston’s kiteboarding profile called AirKiteboarding. The Tideline magazine created an application similar to facebook for Charleston’s maritime community, it’s free. From there, you can upload photos and videos, keep a blog, comment on messageboards, etc. It is growing fast, so check it out.

Some days ago, I posted on my facebook profile that I loved the twitter song. I have been bombarded by emails from friends who have never heard of twitter. I do wonder how many people currently are on twitter…as well as how all those new twitter friends who follow me actually find me. And why me? Well, I have a friend in NYC – also in PR – who told me that a PR guru started following him which means that he was doing something right…of course he had no idea how she found him. Well, I do not know how to do the twitting right…I am just messing around.
For those who want to know about www.twitter.com: Twitter is micro-blogging; short bursts of information that you get from people that you “follow” in the twitter world. There is also a group of people that “follows” you. People on twitter talk about what is going on in their lives as well as different industries like PR, politics, business and more.
