Video from the Village Run at Mixson, April 18!
On April 18th, the third annual Green Village Tour Race, hosted by the Sustainability Institute, will once again wind its way through the streets of North Charleston’s Park Circle neighborhood. The 8k race will begin at 8 a.m. sharp, and will end at the after party in the Mixson development. Mixson is the largest collection of LEED for Homes Gold residences in the country. The neighborhood is represented by rehava.com. There is also a 5k walk for non-runners. Registration costs $20/$25 on race day, and kids under 15 can run for free. Participants will get a shirt, a ticket to the Charleston Battery home opener that evening, and a sustainable goodie bag. Register and get more information at the Sustainability Institute’s website.
Once the after party at Mixson is over, make sure to attend the 2009 Earth Day Festival, hosted by the Charleston County’s Solid Waste and Recycling Department, at Park Circle in North Charleston from 11am -3pm. Mixson and rehava will have a booth, so stop by to say hello. More than 7,000 people attended last year’s event. Charleston County is asking all participants to help reduce waste and to recycle at the event; this year’s event is paperless.
