I attend the music class at Gymboree with my 8 month old son. We both really enjoy the class, and now I found yet another option for us. Last year, during OPEN organized by the Charleston Regional Alliance for the Arts that my PR firm helped promote, I met the executive director of Creative Spark located on 757 Long Point Road in Mt. Pleasant. She told me about their children music classes and the fact that their class for newborns had to be canceled due to lack of interest. Having so many friends with new babies, I figured that I will help them out and spread the word.
In a couple of weeks, the Creative Spark is introducing a music class for ages newborns to 16 months. The class titled the Musikgarten promises to immerse a child in language, evoke movement, stimulate the brain and foster physical coordination – all in a small group setting that builds community. If you want to awaken your baby or toddler’s love of music, check out and sign up for this adult/child music class instructed by Natalie Hudson. Natalie, a native of South Carolina, received her bachelor’s degree in piano performance from the College of Charleston and continued her studies at the Conservatory in Madrid, Spain. She has performed as a soloist, accompanist, and chamber musician throughout the southeast, California, and western Europe. In her teaching she emphasizes the importance of early childhood education and parental involvement. She has taught at Creative Spark since 2002 and offers Musikgarten classes for babies and toddlers and Music for Young Children (MYC) classes for 3 to 6 year olds.
